Currently...24 weeks!

This week has been SO much better than last. It all started on Tuesday when I was having a serious hormone and stress-induced meltdown in my office. I was so completely overwhelmed by the three classes I was taking that I was certain I had to change my work schedule to make it work. Then came the voice of reason from my sweet husband who encouraged me to just drop one of the classes. I had not considered that option and the moment I clicked "web drop" I felt a weight lift from my shoulders and everything has been so much better this week. Not to mention I have been drinking coffee in the am which totally helps my mood and keeps the headaches away.

Logan IS CURRENTLY....

WISHING he could possess control of every single light bulb and lamp in existence  specifically in our house. He has incredible hand-eye coordination and can twist off the top of a lamp, remove the shade, and twist out the light bulb. Then he take the bulb to another lamp that already has a bulb, removes it and replaces it with the bulb from the first lamp. We have really cracked down on him NOT doing this as it's just not safe. And he hates that.

MISSING his little cousin River who lived with us. He's only a few months older and of the three children, R is the one he talks about the most. Breaks my heart.

WORRYING about our DVD player pausing/skipping his Curious George shows all.the.time. He wants to take the thing apart and fix it, or for us to do it for him.

I AM CURRENTLY....

LOVING ice packs. God-send for this low back/tailbone pain. I try to ice every night after work for like, an hour.

WISHING that my body loved pregnancy as much as I do.  Seriously, I feel like I'm already in the third tri. Everything feels so heavy and the aches in my back are making me waddle already.

CRAVING milk shakes! I have to make them at home with lactose free ice cream and almond milk, which has turned out awesome!  But I do miss the only thing good that McDonalds offers and that is their vanilla milk shakes. Mmmm

MISSING my energy level. It's below zero right now.

WORRYING kinda sorta about the little baby bean. He/she is measuring a solid 2 weeks behind right now which could mean a  number of things, including genetics, wrong dates or worse, IUGR or SGA. We will have another ultrasound at 28wks to check things out but for now, everything is okay.

how far along? 24wks, measuring 22wks.
total weight gain: 19.5 pounds
maternity clothes? yes.
sleep: not too bad this week. Lots of crazy dreams.
best moment this week: Logan feeling the baby move.
movement: Oh yes!
sex: team green!
labor signs: none
belly button in or out? getting flatter.
food cravings: vodka pasta sauce, ramen noodles
what i miss: The warmer weather. I just want to play outside with my son!
what i am looking forward to: Logan's birthday next week!
weekly wisdom: Every pregnancy, even for the same person, is different.

Sunday Social and Other Things

I'm linking up with Sunday Social again. I love this little blog hop. Sometimes writing is easier when you have little prompts, even if the questions are really easy and basic.

This week:

1. What is the name of your blog? How long have you been blogging? We Are For Each Other. It's from an e. e. cummings poem. I have the entire line at the top of the blog. ^^^ I've been blogging for about 4.5 years and I love it! I had a better following a few years ago, but I'm okay with only one or two readers. ;)

2. Why do you blog? I started this blog as a way to keep track of my days as a newlywed. Then I found other blogs about newlyweds and moms and so on and feel in love. I've always loved writing and this is my book.

3. What is the first blog you ever followed? Oh dear I have no idea! There are some blogs I have been following for years. And some of the first blogs I started following are no longer blogging.

4. What is your favorite post you wrote in 2012? The three-part series I wrote on us buying our home are my favorite posts. It felt so empowering to share how we made it all work out and heck, WE BOUGHT OUR FIRST HOME! Part1. Part2. Part3.

5. What are your blogging goals for 2013? Write a post 3 times a week, keep working on an ebook I've started, and follow more amazing bloggers.

6. Top 3 favorite blogs to follow?

Sunday Social on Monday Mingle

My weekend was so relaxed, the last thing I thought about was writing. Now I'm at work on what is looking to be a very slow day. I get to leave early, take Christmas Day off, work the 26th part of the day and then it's off to the mountains through the weekend! This week could really not get any better. Oh wait. It has. Baby bean has been moving and grooving all over the place! I don't feel baby all the time, but when I do the movements are very pronounced and I swear its an elbow or knee jabbing at me. I love it!

Sunday Social1. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Well, I can't eat ice cream anymore, but it used to be cookie dough. Now, I can only eat the lactose free vanilla bean which is good, just not the same.

2. What is your favorite smell? I love the smell of fresh-baked banana bread.

3. Favorite TV commercial: Oh I have no clue! I never remember them long enough to have a favorite.

4. Favorite day of the week: Saturday! It's our only family day that we have together and we always make the best of it.

5. Favorite way to waste time: ha! Me, waste time?! Pinterest for sure.

6. Favorite article of clothing: My new Muk Luks!! I love these slippers! (mine are on the right)

Sunday Social

Why not? I'm not in the best mood tonight, but writing feels good, especially something with a prompt. (BTW if anyone wants to chat privately  I would be happy to share more about what is going on with this pregnancy--midwife101blog(at)gmail.com).

Sunday SocialWhat is the wall paper on your phone?

I just changed it today. I took a photo of lights on a Christmas tree and that is now my wallpaper.

What do you keep beside your bed?

There is a light, my phone charger, and as of today THAT'S IT!! We had the house cleaned and so everything is in it's place.

What is your least favorite chore?

I'm not really a fan of chores in general, but I hate folding and putting away laundry.

If you could eliminate one thing from your daily routine, what would it be?

Waking up so early for work.

What do you do to vent anger?

I'm don't get angry too often, but I do get frustrated. I will cry, talk to my mom or B, or write.

What is your favorite holiday of the year and why?

I LOVE Thanksgiving. I love how relaxed it is, the food and family. I also love 4th of July. Great summer holiday!

It's Award Time

Been awhile since I've received any blogging awards! Thanks to Heather at Charmed Life for pointing out how few followers I have. ;) I kid. This award is specifically for those other blogging folks who have less than 200 followers. There was a time when I *think* I had more than that, but I may be kidding myself.

liebster

This award is given to new or up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers...the award is then passed along to other bloggers in the same category to help spread the word and support one another.

If you receive the award, there are a few rules to follow...

1) Each blogger nominated must post 11 things about themselves

2) Then answer the 11 questions the tagger has asked

3)Blogger must then create 11 questions of their own to ask the bloggers they decide to nominate

4) They must choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate and link them on their blog post

5)Bloggers must be notified of their award!

6) No tag backs!

  1. I love Chai tea with almond milk. I have one at least once a week.

  4. I am an amateur photographer, still with just a point and shoot camera.

11 Questions from Heather:

  1. When is my favorite vacation spot? Cabo San Lucas

  2. What is my all time favorite book? Catcher in the Rye

  10. My favorite made-up word: The only one that comes to mind is Mmmbop! ;)

  11. Who do I look up to most? My  mom. She's amazing.

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

Linking up again this week with Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup. Enjoy this holiday-themed post. :)

1) What is your favorite Holiday season tradition?

Probably cutting down our Christmas tree. When I was younger, we started doing it when I was 12 and almost every years since I have cut one down. This year, we won't have the time to cut one down. We have way too much stuff going on right now!

2) Do you have a certain Holiday movie you watch more than any others?

Not really, but I love The Christmas Story and Love, Actually.

3) Show us your favorite decoration or pinterest decoration you wish you could have:

http://kimberlypetersen.typepad.com/photos/things_i_made/advent.jpg

(Source: Advent Calendar)

I would LOVE to have the time to make something awesome like this. Maybe next year. I think Logan would be more into it next year anyway.

4) Favorite Holiday song:

O Holy Night. I LOVE the Hanson version of this song, but really, any version of it always makes my heart happy.

5) Favorite Holiday dessert:

My aunt makes these really yummy green christmas cookies. It's the only time of the year I have them and everything about them reminds me of my childhood.

6) What is on my wish list this year?

I want new bedding so badly. I love gray and yellow togethers with some purple thrown in there.

Sunday Social-Newbie Here

Sunday Social

I haven't done this before but I like how it sounds and I actually have a Sunday evening to myself to type it out. So here goes!

Name 4 jobs you've had in your life.

1. The first job I had in high school was working in a movie theater. I loved it. I had the best perks and, being that my entire family is pretty obsessed with movies, I had a blast. I was able to see any movie I wanted with my family, all comped, as long as the movie was at least 2 weeks old and not still selling out. This was all while Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars were coming out. It was a fantastic job. I quit when I started college.

2. I had a job as a paraprofessional in a high school. I was one-on-one with a student who had a traumatic brain injury. It was a crazy school year, but I loved going to all his classes with him. The job was challenging, but I got to do freshman year all over again and it was great.

3. I worked part time at a chiropractor while I was working at the high school. I got free adjustments all the time, but it was a commute to another town and I was not available enough.

4. Now I work in a hospital and I love it. I get to see pregnant mamas in labor come in and then see them leave with their little babies a few days later. I love it. I am keeping my eyes open for something where I could have more patient contact as a unit assistant, something which does not require certifications and such.

Name 4 movies you could watch over and over.

1. Knocked Up. Best comedy ever.

2. The Notebook. Best love story.

3. Harold and Maude. Best black comedy.

4. Inglorious Bastards. Best action/war movie.

Name 4 places you have lived.

I have only ever lived in Colorado, except for a short stint in New Jersey over the summer.

1. Lavallette, New Jersey, summer of 2006. This town was hit so hard by Hurricane Sandy.

2. Grand Junction, Colorado. 3 years for college.

3. Steamboat Springs, Colorado. AKA Ski Town USA. Lived there for 7 years.

4. Current Town, Colorado. I keep this private.

Name 4 of your favorite foods.

1. Butternut Squash Ravioli.

2. Guacamole.

3. BBQ wings.

4. Vodka sauce penne pasta.

Name 4 things you always carry with you.

1. Phone.

2. Keys.

3. Wallet.

4. Baby bean. ;)

Name 4 places you have been on vacation.

1. Isle of Mann, June 2002.

2. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, May 2000 & April 2009

3. London, England, June 2002

4. New York City, New York, countless times.

I was hoping we'd talk about TV, so since we didn't I will just mention that I am curbing a migraine right now by watching the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls and drinking a cherry coke. It's working.

Snow Day

This weekend we had a lovely snow. It started early Saturday morning as sleet and quickly changed into gigantic, wet snowflakes. The kids could not get their boots, coats and hats on fast enough before running outside to enjoy the white wonder. My cousins children have seen snow before, but not like this. Not Colorado snow! Heidi and I watched from inside as our children soaked up the cold fun!

one more week

One more week...and I will be in my second trimester with this baby bean.

One more week...and I will be on a hot date with my husband to a hockey game.

One more week...and then I might start feeling less tired and staying up past 9pm.

One more week...until I can get a real massage again.

One more week...of Logan waking up at 5am and I might loose all my marbles.

One more week...closer to Thanksgiving, my most favorite holiday.

One more week...of class and then I get a week off!

One more week...and I might need to upgrade to my black maternity pants on a regular basis.

One more week...and Logan and I will be back at the new children's museum. I'll be sure to take my camera this time!

One more week. Hang in there.

On Sleep and Other Things

Sleep. I'm been pretty lucky to have a kiddo who has always bee a pretty good sleeper. Sure, we've had our challenges now and then and sleep is always worse when Logan is sick or going through a weird phase in his growth.  But I'm lucky enough to get a full nights sleep and if we all went to bed at the same time, I'd easily have 10 hours of solid sleep under my belt. I know that is not so for everyone, even with toddlers who should, ideally, be sleeping through the night by now. But some kids are just different and we're going through a very challenging sleep stage with Logan.

For the last several weeks, Logan has been fighting his naps and the process of going to bed at night with every fiber of his being. At daycare, he has no problem (of course!) but at home, he will fight it until we're both red in the face with frustration and confusion. We try everything by rocking, reading, singing, and saying goodnight to everything in sight. He is aware it's bed time but refuses to stay in bed. Now he needs his closet light on, which is only so he can see his toys better. The most extreem thing he does to get attention is...poop. I know, I did just say that!! But is anyone else's toddler doing this, or has done this? I mean, he will go three times before he's "done" and find new excuses to get out of bed. It takes almost an hour every day to get him ready and staying in bed. Once he's asleep, he stays asleep, but there have been a lot of tears as we try to maintain control, discipline  and care while enforcing the time for going to bed is NOW.

I realize that this is also a critical time in Logan's life in which he is learning how to express himself with words, actions and less than desirable behaviors to get what he wants. It is so easy to give in. But we don't want to set an example that he can have whatever he wants when he wants it. The time change this morning was not actually as bad as I thought it would be. He ended up sleeping almost an hour later than he normally would have (thanks to the darkness!) but has since been super cranky after his nap. We've been cutting an hour off his nap time to help him be more ready for bed by 8pm. So far, no difference, but I'm hoping that adjustment helps us all go to bed happier.

So, any advice veteran mamas??

In other news,

  • my belly has popped this weekend. WOAH!

  • I have done more than 6 loads of laundry today and there are stil 3-4 left to do.

  • B cleaned up the yard yesterday, pruned all our bushes and mowed for the end of the year maintenance--it all looks amazing!

  • I'm obsessed with Smarties and blueberry muffins right now.

Currently...11wks

(11wks with Logan)

As I've already said, this pregnancy has been so different than my first with Logan. I know all pregnancies can be different but I am truly surprised by how night and day they really are. First of all, I cannot BELIEVE I am already 11wks. Feels like just last week we were finding out! This time did not seem to go as quickly with Logan. I remember the 1st trimester dragging on and on and that that the 2nd trimester was much quicker. Secondly, all my cravings, symptoms, etc are just different. Most of the morning sickness is gone. Only every so often will I feel yucky and like nothing sounds good to eat. Also, the fatigue is wearing off, which is nice (though as I type I am really tired--must be from getting up early to do my face make-up!). Last time I feel like I was tired forever. All the time. Staying up past 9pm has been nice.

And can I just say WOW to my bump?! I seriously had to go back through my photos to see what I looked like last time (thank goodness for those photos!) and this bump is more defined, for sure. Click the link above to see for yourself. Another major difference is how laid back I am about all the aches and pains that are normal. I feel like my experience and education in pregnancy and childbirth has eased my mind. I know that if the pain is sudden and goes away, it has to be round ligament pain, which I had lots of last time. I know that if it sticks around, I can call my midwife and she will tell me what to do. But guess what? I have only called her ONCE this entire pregnancy when I had food poisoning. Last time, I called the nurses all.the.time. I knew them all on a first-name basis. Maybe it was a first-time-mom worry or just that I did have a few issues. I have not had any spotting whatsoever, cramps, or anything else which might be concerning. I feel so lucky this time. I feel so blessed that I know what my body is doing and is capable of.  Do all second timers feel like this?

Our lives are in such a different place this time, which must be why it feels like the weeks are just flying by. My cousin is living with us, I'm in school, working full time, and dealing with a toddler who fights his naps and doesn't go to bed until 10pm (more on that later). Whatever these differences mean, I feel positive that all is well. We should hear a heart beat next week (Thursday) when I'm 12wks.

Stats:

Total Weight Gain: 4.5 pounds. I lost a pound somewhere in there last week. I'm sure after all the candy I've been enjoying that my weigh in on Monday will be different!

Continuing Symptoms: fatigue, though less often.

Maternity Clothes: I love maternity pants. The belly band is working out fine, but not having to readjust it every so often is nice!

Sleep: sleeping well!

What I’m Eating: I am a walking cliche: I ate 3 pickles without stopping last night.

Cravings: salty things, smarties, BBQ chicken, spaghetti

Movement: none

Labor Signs: n/a

Special Pregnancy Moments: When a co-worker pointed out how cute my bump is looking. I love getting to that point where I finally look pregnant and not chubby!

***

Logan is currently...

Loving his dinosaur costume and plastic pumpkin bucket. He was very excited to take it to school today and he carries his pumpkin around the house and puts odd items in it like socks and a stuffed kitty.

Looking at everything out the car windows. He is constantly telling me "Mama, look at that ______!" Fill in the blank. Car lights, moon, orange sky, school bus, truck...you name it.

Cooking water. The kitchen is not the most kid-friendly arena in our home right now. I feel like once the space is just our own again I will let him in the kitchen with me more. But for now, he is obsessed with taking my egg beater/salad dressing maker and filling it with water and ice and then passing the water between the cup and other bowls. He loves water play!

Catching a cold that's been caught. We're going on almost 2 weeks now and his cough is just terrible, however he has no other symptoms and just has to ride it out. We treat it with benedryl at night to help him sleep and the same if he's extra snotty in the morning.

Missing his grandparents. He talks about them every time we are in the car. His memory is amazing. I picked my mom up one day and took her home. The next several days after he kept asking if we were going to pick up Lolly. I hate meeting that question with a "no, not today honey".

I am currently...

Loving being pregnant again. I loved it the first time and I love it again. I love the experience and how growing a baby simplifies the important things in life.

Looking for boots and some damn leggings!! I've looked everywhere. I think I tried on 30 different pairs of boots this weekend and NO place I went had a decent pair of legging. I'd like to live in those for the remainder of my pregnancy and one pair is not going to cut it.

Cooking very little lately. I'm not much for cooking anyway and even less so while pregnant. The microwave is my friend. And my cousin, who's an amazing cook.

Catching up on Call the Midwife! I did not realize I'd missed three episodes! So I caught up yesterday and oh, how I love that show!! I love how ever birth is depicted with real, raw labor and pushing and that not every birth is dramatic (as shown in TV and movies so often). I could go on forever.

Missing my family out East. There little beach town is under water and sand right now. I wish I could be there to help clean up.

Currently...10 weeks!

I am currently.....

Worrying about my sanity. My plate is so full right now. I need a major break from EVERYTHING.

Listening to lots of classical music at work. And sometimes, nothing. I rarely get a moment of silence right now and classical music is mellow, calming and peaceful.

Wishing that I was a stay at home mom who could send my kid to day care and sleeeeeeeeeeeep.

Observing the lovely snow outside!! So pretty!

Considering who I am going to vote for in this damned election. There, I said it. This election sucks and is so hard for me. Ugh I cannot wait for it to be over!

10 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 5.5 pounds. Still all in the girls. ;)

Continuing Symptoms: Nausea had gone away for several days, until today of course. I'm also still really tired, even if I get 10 hours of solid sleep.

Maternity Clothes: Since my belly is growing more, the belly band is working out better, so no not this week.

Sleep: sleeping well!

What I’m Eating: Whatever sounds good. Right now, nothing sounds good and I usually resort to chicken noodle soup on days like today.

Cravings: I was craving pasta yesterday.

Movement: none

Labor Signs: n/a

Special Pregnancy Moments: Nothing more special that STILL being pregnant!! That is always such a blessing. I wanted so badly to make it to the 10th week. Even though it is still the first trimester, I felt like that was a huge accomplishment health wise. Grow baby Grow!!

Currently...

I am going to start including a weekly or biweekly bump update with the currently posts as I feel they can work together. Find the bump update below.

Logan is currently....

Feeling like a two and a half year old. He's been extra stubborn, saying "no" to just about everything and doing the opposite of what he's asked. I've been told that three is worse than two and I think that might be true.

Drinking juice and milk, his faves.

Looking for something for him to get into that he's not supposed to be messing with. He wants to mess with anything mechanical, switches, buttons, etc.

Dreaming of going back to the farm. Logan loved the animals and the pumpkins, he's asked to go back almost every day this week.

Making his own decisions. Since I'm in a human growth class, it is very obvious that he is in a "just right" stage in which everything must be just right for him. For example, he refused to take his pjs off yesterday morning and so he went to day care in his pjs. Not the battle I'm willing to fight.

I am currently.....

Feeling yucky most days. I'm insanely tired, nauseous and overall not in the best mood.

Drinking tons of water! Gotta stay hydrated!

Looking for ummmm I'm not sure. I have sat her an thought about it and I have no idea what I'm looking for! haha

Dreaming of SLEEEEEEEP.

Making an effort with everything I do. Pregnancy is so much harder with a toddler, full house and busy job.

***

9 weeks

Total Weight Gain: 3.5 pounds. I lost a good pound last weekend with the food poisoning.

Continuing Symptoms: nausea, fatigue, hunger

Maternity Clothes: ummm I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm in my work mat pants now. I was just too uncomfy and my belly band is annoying.

Sleep: sleeping well!

What I’m Eating: just about anything. Not a fan of meat right now.

Cravings: Veggies, greasy foods

Movement: none

Labor Signs: n/a

Special Pregnancy Moments: I suppose a little bump qualifies. I love looking pregnant and everyone at work points it out to me. A boss even asks if I'm having twins and as far as I know, just one is in there.

Logan is currently....

Watching netflix. I swear this is a total life saver when I am feeling super yucky, which is most of the time right now. He love Curious George (like Kale!), Barney and Rugrats.

Reading .... ummmm I'm not sure. I've been a terrible parent lately and have fallen off the read-to-your-child-every-night wagon. I'm not proud of it and our home is a mad house right now so for now, he is read to at preschool.

Eating very little. The kid is like a bird. He pecks at things here and there. We are going through a lot of tummy upset with him and I'm not exactly sure what is causing it. We know he is lactose intolerant and that, in the past, cheese was fine. Now I don't think so anymore so we are cutting all dairy and whey out of his diet to see if anything changes. He does love breads, fruits, and cereal the most right now.

I am currently.....

Watching Call the Midwife on PBS. I had to cut last nights episode short as I was not feeling good and went straight to bed. I love this show!! It is wonderful and I love watching it with Heidi.

Reading only school-related things and some blogs. No books right now. I can barely sit up straight by the end of the day let alone concentrate on a book.

Eating very little as well. I mean, I am eating often, just very small, bland things and I really cannot even think about food right now.

Inspired by the nurses I work with. They are amazing. I hope that people realize that when they are in the hospital that their new best friend is their nurse and that the doc spends less than 10 minutes on his rounds. It appalls me to see a patient totally disrespect their nurse.

Thinking about my prenatal appointment I have in 20 minutes. Praying it goes well!!

We had a wonderful weekend! It was so jam-packed it hardly felt like a weekend but B and I had TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW in which we left Logan at home with Heidi so we could have some adult alone time. Saturday night we went to dinner with my parents and then to a brew house. If there is something you should know about Colorado, it's that we love our beer! There are a few hundred breweries just in Northern Colorado and lucky for me, it is the best way to hang out with my husband.

Sunday night we went to a wedding. It was beautiful! We had a lovely time and we even danced! Made me feel like young newlyweds again.

Oh, Monday

I'm giving myself 10 whole minutes to tap out this belated update on things going on around here.

  • I have been going back and forth with having Instagram on my phone. That app takes up more space and so I finally got a ton of photos and videos into my dropbox and things are better and I can now exclaim, "I am totally Instagraming this!"

  • Class are good! Nutrition is going better and I'm doing great in the other two. Nothing new to report other than I love it. I really do, but after 3 weeks this is some serious business. I felt the need to throw my hands up on Friday, which I did, and once I calmed down I got to work on Sunday afternoon and killed the test. It pays to walk away from things for a bit.

  • I am working on a Shutterfly calendar. Gosh I love photos!

  • I am listening to Matched. Interesting, whimsical story so far.

  • We watched Silent House on Saturday night. Oh man that is "LEGIT scary", as my dear cousin says. Did not see the end coming, which is always nice. Even B couldn't figure it out and that's saying something!

  • A chai tea with almond milk is my go-to morning drink for a caffeine pick-me-up. I love it!

  • I cannot wait for all my favorite shows to start again! This week is Survivor and Glee on Thursday night.

Annnndddd my 10 minutes is up. Happy Monday!

the count down is on!

A week from today I start my classes! I cannot believe it is hear already. I have been out of school for over five years...I hope that in the last five years I'm wiser and a better student! lol But really, I just want to have fun and enjoy learning. I have always loved school, despite the struggles I've had over the years. Now that I am actually going with a purpose and end goal in sight, I feel a lot more confident about how I will do.

I have started to refinish and paint an awesome secretary desk I scored at a local antique shop. Should take me about a week to finish with all the priming, painting and coating I need to do. Did all the sanding of it last night. Thank goodness for power sanders! There is no way I could stand there hand-sanding such a large piece of furniture.

I'm hoping to finish Harry Potter Book 1 this week sometime. I've loved listening to it. The reader does an incredible job of depicting each character and changing the inflections in each character's voice. He really brings the story to life, one which I have not been the biggest fan of over the years but am really enjoying now.

This weekend was great! Spent most of our time just relaxing, playing outside in the pool, and we checked out a local music fest Friday night. Last night, Logan woke up for the first time in MONTHS because he was hungry. This kid must be going through some kind of growth spurt because he is constantly eating! So we sat at the kitchen table in the soft light of the kitchen, he on my lap, as he ate turkey and cheese. Despite the wake up call, it was so nice to share those moments with my little man.

Update on my health! Things are going great! I have gained almost 10 solid pounds since last December. I feel so much better and have my diet under control. So much so that I don't even take medication for the GERD unless it's really bad, which is rare now. The most common symptom I have is nausea. I've just learned to deal with and ignore it. I feel nauseous nearly four out of seven days of the week. Almost like a pregnant person, but I'm not. I've also been able to reintroduce foods that once irritated me. Like coffee! I can have a cup in the morning and it's all good! I try not to have one every day, but when I do my body does fine.

Cheers and a happy Monday to you!

Currently...

Harvesting Kale

Logan is...

Wishing... he could eat doughnuts all day, stay in his pool all day, and do just about anything he's not supposed to. He's been quite stubborn lately as he learns more ways to communicate his feelings.

Reading... Curious George Christmas. I think we read it 2-10 times a day.

Cooking... burgers with daddy. He loves to watch us do anything on the grill or stove. As he is able, he helps. Otherwise he just enjoys being able to see all the action.

Anticipating... a new home day care in less than two weeks! Being around kids his age is just going to rock his world!

Missing... me. :( This kid, almost every morning, tells me to stay home or just "two more minutes". Kills me.

I am...

Wishing... I had not been sick last week. I never want to get the flu ever again!

Reading... I'm listening to Harry Potter Book 1 and reading Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May here and there. Oh and birth stories.

Cooking... Not much lately! B has been cooking most nights since I have been so under the weather. A few nights ago my mom made us salmon (B a pork chop) and last night we grilled burgers. So tonight I plan on spaghetti.

Anticipating... School to start! Just over a week and I am a college kid again! WOW I am so excited!

Missing... My cousins, especially Heidi. Gaw I hate how far away we are from each other.

Mom's Monday Mingle

In an effort to meet more blogging mamas I am linking up today with Julie over at Naptime Review. Can't wait to make more friends! BTW if anyone is specifically from Colorado, please send me an email! Thanks. :) samama8@gmail.com

This weekend was wonderful. Friday night B and I watched the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics and an episode of Breaking Bad. Seriously, could not have been a better night just hanging out together sipping on wine. I love easy we are with each other.

Saturday I spent the morning cleaning the house and my dear friend Carrie (SHORT) from Short and Hat came over for the entire day. It was wonderful. She's an 'ol college friend who just moved into town and after nearly 6 years of very little contact, we are talking more than ever. She's not a mama (yet), but is married to an awesome dude (HAT). He joined us for dinner and I must say it makes my heart so happy when I see my husband make a new friend. There will be many more nights of grilled Italian Chicken with lime-juiced rice, wine, and reminiscing.

Sunday, Logan and I hung out. I could tell he was not feeling too well so we went to the park, picked up some groceries and otherwise watched the Olympics and lots of Barney. He was extra snugly and whiny (the two most obvious indications that he's not quite himself). After his nap, sure enough he had a low fever. After more snuggles, juice and a snack, the fever broke but his cough and extra sneezing is still hanging around. Praying for him to kick this little bug quickly and not to get his best buddy Elliot sick either. Or us for that matter.

Sunday night, B surprised me with a ticket to go and see Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional at the dinky little venue downtown. It. Was. Amazing!! B ended up staying home with Logan and I called another 'ol college buddy and he came along with me. The show was incredible and, best of all, I get to scratch Bucket List item #142 off my list: Be at someone else's marriage proposal. That's right! A sweet guy proposed to his girlfriend. The crowd totally freaked out. I videoed the entire thing and nearly cried myself. She said yes.

This morning was rouuuuugh!! It was as if I was really back in my college days of listening to Dashboard way late at night and getting up early for a class (aka work). My throat is worn from cheering Chris on song after song. Best song? His last one: Hands Down. All this and more made the rough morning more than worth it. I'd do it again, night after night if I could! haha...well, maybe. ;)
