This is what being a full time working and part time schooling mama and wife looks like: not much blogging. Surprisingly, I have only felt the urge a few times and that is largely due to how exhausted I am by the time I finish working, studying, taking quizes, and showering before I have to go to bed. The house is a royal mess. I told B that I cannot be left to do everything, not that I was, but that he has to help me out more, especially with the things he hates doing (laundry). He is an incredible husband and has been so encouraging and supportive with me going back to school. So here's the break down:
Medical terminology: I assumed that it would be hard. Lucky for me, mostly because I work in a hospital and I have a background in English, the class has been great and I've got a perfect grade so far. The reading is not too heavy and the terms are mostly familiar.
Pregnancy nutrition: A class I assumed would be easy is SO NOT. No joke. I took the first quiz last week and bombed it. I kicked myself over and over for not reading enough and then found out the entire class averaged a 61% and I didn't feel as bad. I took the second quiz last night and did much better.
Human growth and development: I love this in person class. The professor is awesome. She is easy to relate to and for some reason, I have more to say now than I ever did back in my younger college days. Must be all the life experience. I've noticed that the women in our class who are younger, not married or mothers are really uneducated about women's health and pregnancy. It makes me so sad. Whether she is planning on becoming a mother someday or not, she NEEDS to know how her body works! Some of the questions had me gaping. I could not believe it. I have felt a stir inside of me to specifically focus on young women (teen moms) to ensure that they are properly educated about their pregnancy, nutrition, development and choices surrounding their situation.
In general I am loving it. The first two weeks of my 5 week classes are already done, which is crazy to think that I will be done with them in 3 weeks time.

Melt down
As I mentioned last week, it was a tough one. In short, there will soon be seven people living under our roof. That includes B, me, and Logan. Seven mouths to feed and probably seven loads of laundry a day! And the dishes, beds, toys, and late night chats of seven people...I am excited, anxious, nervous and ready for this life change.
I thank God every day for the blessing of our home. Being first time home buyers has been great for us and now I see the bigger plan he had in mind. He knew we had to expand our hearts and fridge space and this is how he prepared us for it.
So, who are the four other people joining us in less than two weeks? None other that my nearly sister-cousin and her three wonderful children. She has had to make a life decision for herself and her kids to move them here with us and we could not be more happy to open our home to them. We don't know how long they will stay, but we will keep them as long as we need to. In all honesty, I am thrilled that she is finally moving back to Colorado! We have been so close our entire lives and now we can raise our children together.
But....I am nervous. How will we adjust? How will this affect Logan? Who's going to cook? How messy will the house be? Maybe these are silly things to worry about, but it is our daily life that will change and we want nothing other than a positive outcome for all of us. I love Her dearly. She is one of my most favorite people and I know that together we will ensure that the transition for our kids is a good one. Logan is essentially getting three playmates! How cool is that?
Why is not important, but I do feel a personal meltdown coming. Not a bad one, just a moment where maybe I'm standing in the shower and it hits me, I sob and move on. At least that is how I hope it happens!
In other news, Logan had the most epic melt down at the school book store on Thursday night over a damn sucker! So here I am, paying for my books and logan is wailing in the stroller and this lady next to us says to him, "oh honey just wait a minute and she'll get it for ya!" o_o are you kidding me? I about strangled her! My kid totally understands what that means so he, of course, just cried harder! I said ha, no I'm not, paid and left as quickly as possible. I almost had a melt down with him.

Currently...
Just me this week. This has been one hell of a week! I wish yesterday was Friday. Moving on:
Searching for... a number of things. Guidance, patience and an easy way to adjust to the changes coming.
Making... pinterest ideas come alive! Photos will come soon, I promise!
Feeling...Exhausted, overwhelmed, tired and not very hungry for some reason.
Going...to Texas in two weeks, which has to do with all of the above and more. Until then, I need a week off just to sleep and adjust.

Back to School: 7 Questions
(Photo of me and my friend Christie in college, obviously before going out to dance!)
Thanks to my bloggie bestie Randalin, I get to learn about all kinds of new blog hops and fun topics to write about. School is one of the most important things on my mind right now so here goes! Link up below.
1. It's back to school time! Are YOU going back to school?
YES YES YES!! I cannot wait! Just a few more days. I really love the idea of 3, short 5 week online classes to start the semester off with and ending with just ONE class in December.
2. Speaking of back to school... You receive 10 pts if you can name this movie:
"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms."
Well, I had no idea until I saw the answer because this is a movie I'm not a big fan of and I'm not even sure I've seen it all the way through.
3. Who did you hang out with in school? Cool kids, jocks, nerds, were you a loner, etc? (all are welcome here- btw)
In high school I was friends with several different people. At times I kind of felt like a loner because I did not associate myself with any one group or club.
4. What was your favorite subject in school?
English and history. I had a history teacher my junior year who was just a few years older than us. Everyone joked he had a crush on me. It was fun to imagine! lol
5. If you had to go back and redo one of the following, which would you choose and why? Preschool, Elementary, Middle School, High School, College?
High school! And I only say that because I would make sure I was more involved with clubs and sports. Now, I see that I would have loved forensics as I love science. I'd also worked harder to be on the dance team and maybe even volleyball, the two sports I actually enjoy.
6. Home/ Packed Lunch or School Lunch?
Most of the time I packed a lunch. Our high school had a food court, much like one you'd see in a mall. There were specials on certain days, like Taco Tuesday and I'd always bring cash for that.
7. What's more exciting? The first day of school or the last day of school?
This time around I am soooo excited for the first day! A little more nervous too. The last days of school were always the best when I was in high school but now, the first counts more.

We Are For Each Other
the count down is on!
A week from today I start my classes! I cannot believe it is hear already. I have been out of school for over five years...I hope that in the last five years I'm wiser and a better student! lol But really, I just want to have fun and enjoy learning. I have always loved school, despite the struggles I've had over the years. Now that I am actually going with a purpose and end goal in sight, I feel a lot more confident about how I will do.
I have started to refinish and paint an awesome secretary desk I scored at a local antique shop. Should take me about a week to finish with all the priming, painting and coating I need to do. Did all the sanding of it last night. Thank goodness for power sanders! There is no way I could stand there hand-sanding such a large piece of furniture.
I'm hoping to finish Harry Potter Book 1 this week sometime. I've loved listening to it. The reader does an incredible job of depicting each character and changing the inflections in each character's voice. He really brings the story to life, one which I have not been the biggest fan of over the years but am really enjoying now.
This weekend was great! Spent most of our time just relaxing, playing outside in the pool, and we checked out a local music fest Friday night. Last night, Logan woke up for the first time in MONTHS because he was hungry. This kid must be going through some kind of growth spurt because he is constantly eating! So we sat at the kitchen table in the soft light of the kitchen, he on my lap, as he ate turkey and cheese. Despite the wake up call, it was so nice to share those moments with my little man.
Update on my health! Things are going great! I have gained almost 10 solid pounds since last December. I feel so much better and have my diet under control. So much so that I don't even take medication for the GERD unless it's really bad, which is rare now. The most common symptom I have is nausea. I've just learned to deal with and ignore it. I feel nauseous nearly four out of seven days of the week. Almost like a pregnant person, but I'm not. I've also been able to reintroduce foods that once irritated me. Like coffee! I can have a cup in the morning and it's all good! I try not to have one every day, but when I do my body does fine.
Cheers and a happy Monday to you!

Currently...
Logan is...
Wishing... he could eat doughnuts all day, stay in his pool all day, and do just about anything he's not supposed to. He's been quite stubborn lately as he learns more ways to communicate his feelings.
Reading... Curious George Christmas. I think we read it 2-10 times a day.
Cooking... burgers with daddy. He loves to watch us do anything on the grill or stove. As he is able, he helps. Otherwise he just enjoys being able to see all the action.
Anticipating... a new home day care in less than two weeks! Being around kids his age is just going to rock his world!
Missing... me. :( This kid, almost every morning, tells me to stay home or just "two more minutes". Kills me.
I am...
Wishing... I had not been sick last week. I never want to get the flu ever again!
Reading... I'm listening to Harry Potter Book 1 and reading Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May here and there. Oh and birth stories.
Cooking... Not much lately! B has been cooking most nights since I have been so under the weather. A few nights ago my mom made us salmon (B a pork chop) and last night we grilled burgers. So tonight I plan on spaghetti.
Anticipating... School to start! Just over a week and I am a college kid again! WOW I am so excited!
Missing... My cousins, especially Heidi. Gaw I hate how far away we are from each other.

Remember this...
Logan,
You have become quite the comedian lately and I must write down the silly things you do and say before my brain forgets.
You have become quite the comedian lately and I must write down the silly things you do and say before my brain forgets.
- You love watching Rugrats, or "Babies" as you also refer to it. In the beginning, you always throw your right arm in the air when the Nickelodeon sign appears and bring your arm down as you yell "YES!" excitedly. Then, you say "Ba-baa" after the credits. Really stinking cute.
- When you really want something, like to go to the park, you grab my arm and get really close to my face looking right into my eyes and say "Park, mama?" and give your most convincing puppy dog eyes. I cannot deny your requests!
- In the am when I am saying goodbye, you break my heart every time you say "Mama, stay home. Don't go to work." Ahh! I wish I could love bug! I wish I could!!
- You're best friend is Butte. You two are so close now. She follows you around like her little keeper. You two play together and most of the time, it's perfect. You get a little too rough with her sometimes and we have to make you back off a bit, but otherwise you two are inseparable. She even sleeps in your closet now!
- You're mostly potty trained! HOORAY!! You wear undies all day long, minus your nap and at night time. Oh and pooping. You hold it in until your nap. We'll get there...
- You sing along with me to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "You Are My Sunshine", the two songs I've been singing to you since you were 3 hours old. You say "twinkle" like "cookie"...makes me wonder if we need to get your hearing checked again for fluid in your ears.
- You show emotion in your voice now. So cute...especially when I say no to a Popsicle and you say "Awww!" without crying over it.
- We've been going down to the river and your favorite thing to do is slide around on the step that's covered in moss as I drag you through the water. Your laugh can me heard for miles.
- You're still a mamas boy, but you and your daddy have been playing rougher lately, like tackling and wrestling...you love it so far!
- You seem to be right handed, but eat with your left.

the last week
I have missed out on a few link ups last week and this due to my incapacitated state. Thank goodness my husband is not into taking photos of everything, including how terrible I look while sick and horizontal for 5 days straight. Last Tuesday I woke up just fine and by the evening I was certain a cold was coming on. At first, I was hoping it was just some post-concert-yelling sore throat that needed another day to heal. You know Dashboard? Then you know you sing along to every song. I did that.
For the next 4 days I called into work and slept for hours, barely eating and started a much-needed marathon of One Tree Hill. Thank goodness for Netflix. Without it, this sick lady would have been so terribly bored. So what was going on? I had no clue. It was, at first thought, the worst cold I'd ever had, one which I'd been hit with so quickly I hardly saw it coming. I had even asked a dear friend for her cold remedy stew recipe so I could catch the cold on its heals before it could do any damage, but I was too late.
I never went to the doctor, but I'm certain I had the flu. The real-people-get-vaccinated for this flu. I've never had it before and I've always had a vac since I have worked with people and in places in which an outbreak would be terrible. Day cares, hospitals, schools, retirement homes...
Today is my first day back to work and I just feel so...tired, slow, and ready for a long nap. So I'm listening to Harry Potter Book 1 and I love it so far. Work is slow for now and I hope it stays that way (which I NEVER hope for!).
Cheers to my new readers. Please come back again. I promise I write more exciting posts than this. More to come this week: birthday post (last Saturday), the orange dresser, Currently, and more.
love,
Sarah
